Inaugural lecture by Professor Malene Freudendal Pedersen

20.09.2019 kl. 13.00 - 15.30

Cities cannot be separated from the mobilities that support and develop modern lives within them. The question of how to structure the existing and future cities, is thereby also a question of how to ‘design’ the social layout and human interactions. The technocratic outset dominating ideas of future cities tends to focus on the technological feasibility and legitimacy of measures, based on existing data, models and calculations. However, the questions of - why, for what, and for whom? – are often absent and the understanding of everyday life practices is essential in thinking about these questions.
